Lost Alamos: Music

Whatever (The Last Time I Saw Sally)

(Lost Alamos)
© Brian Daniell 2011 ASCAP

Recorded live at Harmony Village, Golden CO, April 30, 2011. Well, why not? Everryone needs a Buddy Holly-Ramones-Beach Boys-tune, don't they? Especially if everyone includes Scott Bennett and his '59 Strat.

I can’t seem to remember the last time I saw Sally

There may have just been a little mayhem

at the place we rented off the alley

True love is forever, whatever was more like Sally

Now she’s working at a bar called the Rusty Star

On the highway to old Mexicali

And she don’t need luck, she don’t need good wishes

She don’t need me to call her honey

She’s got more lines than the ocean got fishes

She left me lookin’ for my money

I can’t seem to remember the last time I saw Belinda

There wasn’t much between her and the feller she was kissin’

right there in front of the window

True love is forever, whatever was more like Belinda

Now she’s breakin’ new hearts in some other parts

That’s just the way the wind blows

And she don’t need luck, she don’t need good wishes

She don’t need me to call her honey

She’s got more lines than the ocean got fishes

She left me lookin’ for my money

I can’t seem to remember the last time I saw Loretta

Guess I should quote most everything she wrote

but I threw away the letter

True love is forever, whatever was more like Loretta

Her new fella’s got a beard and they’re acting pretty weird

Eatin’ garlic and feta

And I don’t need luck, I don’t need your good wishes

Don’t need no woman to call me honey

I got more lines than the ocean got fishes

There’s just a problem with the money

Little problem with the money

Say, honey . .
