Taos Hum

Google "Taos hum" just for fun, but don't try to hear it, because it can drive you mad. Turns out people hear it in every state except North Dakota, so if you start hearing it, best move to Fargo.

In the high desert deep in the night
Over on the ridge--a strange light
Dry bone wind rattlin’ just out of sight
Maybe you’ll run, maybe you might
Stop and listen     Stop and listen

Is it in the air, is it in the ground?
Is it just when your heart starts to pound?
Is it seepin’ out from the old grave mound?
Crazy woman searched, but she never found the
Taos hum . . . Where is it coming . . . ?
Taos hum . . . Where is it coming . . . ?
Taos hum . . . Where is it coming from?

Works real slow--digs at your mind
If you hear it you’ll never find
Peace in the shade helps you unwind
Dog days on the hot sand, you know the kind
Taos hum
Taos hum
Taos hum

Maybe it’s comin from the saucer in the mountain
Maybe it’s just the motor for your neighbor’s fountain
Maybe it’s comin’ from that black helicopter
We saw a woman laughin’-- but then it stopped her
Taos hum, where is it comin’ . . . ?
Taos hum, where is it comin’ . . . ?
Taos hum, where is it comin’ from?

In the high desert deep in the night
Hold your breath, kill the light
Dry bone wind rattlin’ just out of sight
Maybe you’ll shiver, maybe you might
Stop and listen
Stop and listen
(whispered) Stop and listen
